Amin Tarif (Arabic: أمين طريف, Hebrew: אמין טריף; 1898–October 2, 1993) was a revered spiritual leader of the Druze in Mandatory Palestine and later in Israel. Born in the village of Julis in Upper Western Galilee, he succeeded his father as the spiritual leader in 1928 and held this position until his passing. Sheikh Amin's influence extended internationally, earning him widespread respect within the Druze community. He lived an ascetic life, embodying Druze ideals and managing the assets of Maqam Nabi Shu'ayb, a significant religious complex. Despite his esteemed position, his loyalty to the State of Israel led to complex relationships with Druze in neighboring states. In 1990, he was honored with the prestigious Israel Prize for his exceptional contribution to society and the state. Following his death, dignitaries and thousands of Druze mourned and paid tribute to him. His tomb in Julis has since become a pilgrimage site. Amin's grandson, Mowafak Tarif, succeeded him as the spiritual leader of Israel's Druze. Sheikh Amin's legacy continues to be revered, and his memory holds great significance within the Druze community.

Husain has been involved in protests, including the "Nine Weeks of Art and Action" at the Whitney Museum, aimed at protesting Warren Kanders' position as the vice-chair of Whitney's board. In January 2024, he was suspended from his position at NYU after controversial statements regarding the 7 October attack on Israel and New York being referred to as a "Zionist city."

Amin Zaoui is an Algerian novelist born on 25 November 1956 in Bab el Assa, Tlemcen province. He holds a PhD in comparative literature from the University of Oran, and has made significant contributions to the literary world. Zaoui is a bilingual writer, having published novels in both French and Arabic. His works have been translated into multiple languages, showcasing his global influence. Notably, his French novel "Festin de Mensonges" has been translated into English by Frank Wynne. In 2012, his Arabic novel "The Goatherd" was nominated for the prestigious Arabic Booker Prize. Besides his own literary creations, Zaoui has also translated French novels by renowned authors such as Mohamed Dib and Yasmina Khadra into Arabic. Currently, he teaches comparative literature at the Central Algerian University and has previously served as the Director General of the National Library of Algeria.
