Nara Bhupal Shah (Nepali: नरभूपाल शाह; 1697–1743) was the king of the Gorkha Kingdom, located in modern-day Nepal, and the father of Prithvi Narayan Shah. Born to Birbhadra Shah and the grandson of Prithvipati Shah, Nara Bhupal Shah ruled over the Gorkha state in Nepal. He made unsuccessful attempts to expand his kingdom by capturing Nuwakot. However, after his passing, his eldest son, Prithvi Narayan Shah, successfully annexed Nuwakot and later the Kathmandu Valley, ultimately unifying Nepal under his rule. Nara Bhupal Shah's legacy lies in his role as the predecessor to the unification of Nepal by his son, Prithvi Narayan Shah, who went on to establish the Shah dynasty.
