Philip the Bold was born to King John II of France and Bonne of Luxembourg. His father became king in 1350, and Philip was the youngest of their four sons. His paternal lineage included Philip, Duke of Normandy, and Joan of Burgundy, which positioned him within a powerful royal family. His familial connections to the French crown allowed him to play a central role in the politics of his time, influencing both French and Burgundian territories.

Adolfo J. de Bold was an influential Argentine-born Canadian researcher renowned for his groundbreaking discovery of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), a hormone critical in regulating blood pressure and cardiovascular growth. His research at Queen's University and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute significantly advanced cardiovascular science, demonstrating the heart's endocrine function. De Bold's work led to numerous therapeutic applications in heart failure and garnered prestigious awards, including the Gairdner Foundation International Award and induction into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. His contributions to medical research are celebrated globally, enhancing his visibility in the scientific community.

Born in Paraná, Argentina, Adolfo J. de Bold was the son of Ana Patriarca, a homemaker, and Adolfo Guillermo de Bold, a bureaucrat. He married Mercedes Kuroski, a fellow scientist and collaborator, and together they had five children while maintaining strong ties to their Argentine roots.

Alan Norman Bold (1943–1998) was a prominent Scottish poet, biographer, journalist, and saxophonist, known for his significant contributions to literature. Born in Edinburgh, Bold's literary journey began at Edinburgh University, where he befriended Hugh MacDiarmid. His debut, "Society Inebrious," featured an introduction by MacDiarmid and marked the start of his prolific career. Bold's notable works include "The State of the Nation," "A Pint of Bitter," and "The Penguin Book of Socialist Verse." A biographer of Robert Burns, Bold's influence extended through his editorship of Hugh MacDiarmid's letters and his numerous published collections.

Alan Bold married Alice, an art teacher, and they had a daughter, Valentina Bold, who followed in her father's footsteps as a Robert Burns scholar at the University of Glasgow.
