Ciarán Bourke was a pivotal Irish musician and founding member of the renowned folk band The Dubliners. Born on 18 February 1935, he contributed significantly to the band's unique sound with his skills on the tin whistle, mouth organ, and guitar, along with his vocal performances. Bourke introduced a Gaelic element to The Dubliners' repertoire, performing songs in the Irish language and adding humor and patriotism to their concerts. Despite health challenges, including a brain aneurysm in 1974, Bourke remained connected to the band until his passing in 1988, leaving a lasting legacy in Irish folk music.

Bourke gained recognition as the first 'social media reporter' for the ABC and won the Walkley Award for Young Australian Journalist of the Year in 2010. Her book, "From India with Love," published in 2015, explores her journey of self-discovery and supports Indian orphanages with half of its royalties.

Born in Bihar, India, Latika Bourke was left in a Catholic orphanage by her young mother and adopted by Penny and John Bourke, moving to Australia at eight months old. She spent her early years on a farm outside Bathurst, New South Wales, before relocating to the Bathurst township.

General Sir Richard Bourke, KCB, was an influential Irish soldier and leader, notable for his tenure as Governor of New South Wales from 1831 to 1837. A lifelong Whig, Bourke championed reform and the emancipation of convicts, facing significant opposition from local conservatives and the press. His governorship was marked by efforts to extend trial by jury, limit excessive punishments for convicts, and manage land rights, including the controversial implementation of terra nullius, which denied Indigenous Australians legal land ownership. Bourke also served in the British Army, participating in significant campaigns such as the Anglo-Russian invasion of Holland and the British invasions of the River Plate.

Born on 4 May 1777 in Dublin, Ireland, Richard Bourke was the son of Anne (née Ryan) from County Tipperary and John Bourke from Dromsally, County Limerick. He was educated in England and had familial ties with the philosopher Edmund Burke, whom he visited frequently.

Sean Aloysius Bourke (1934–1982) was an Irish figure known for his involvement in the dramatic prison escape of British spy George Blake in 1966. Bourke, originally from Limerick, orchestrated Blake's escape from Wormwood Scrubs prison with the help of anti-nuclear campaigners Michael Randle and Pat Pottle. Despite his critical role, Bourke was never charged due to Ireland's refusal to extradite him. Bourke's life was marked by legal troubles and a stint in Moscow, where he lived on a Soviet allowance. His book, "The Springing of George Blake," chronicles the escape and his life, adding to his notoriety.

Bourke was born into a large family in Limerick and was a first cousin to poet Desmond O'Grady.
