David Magie Childs (1941–2025) was a renowned American architect and chairman of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, known for his role as the architect of record for One World Trade Center in New York City, the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere upon its completion in 2014. His career highlights include significant projects like 1201 Pennsylvania Avenue and the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C., as well as Worldwide Plaza, Bertelsmann Tower, and Time Warner Center in New York City. Childs was a significant figure in urban planning and design and served as chairman of the National Capital Planning Commission and the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts.

Childs married Anne Woolman Reeve in 1963, and they had three children: Joshua, Nicholas, and Jocelyn. The family lived in Manhattan and Keene, New York. Childs passed away in Pelham, New York, in 2025 due to Lewy body dementia.
