Coombes made his debut with Wingmen at the Colchester Arts Centre in January 2023, shortly before their self-titled album release.

Rob Coombes is the older brother of Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes and 22–20s keyboardist Charly Coombes. He resides in Oxford with his three children, indicating a close-knit family life centered around music.

Peet Coombes, born Peter George Coombes on July 16, 1953, was a notable English guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. As the lead singer and primary songwriter for The Tourists, Coombes significantly impacted the music scene alongside bandmates Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox, who later became famous as the duo Eurythmics.
