Thomas Hill of Dennis
Thomas Hill of Dennis (c. 1736-1824) was a prominent ironmaster and a key figure in the establishment of the Blaenavon Ironworks in southeast Wales. As the senior partner alongside Thomas Hopkins and Benjamin Pratt, Hill invested £40,000 in the development of the ironworks, which became one of the largest in the world. He played a significant role in improving transportation links by promoting the Monmouthshire Canal and the Blaenavon Railroad. Hill's contributions extended beyond industry; he was appointed High Sheriff of Worcestershire in 1796 and co-funded the construction of St Peter's Church in Blaenavon and several schools around Stourbridge.
