Jennifer Dundas, an American actress and entrepreneur, is renowned for her role as Chris Paradis in "The First Wives Club." General Francis Dundas (c. 1759 – 1824) was a prominent British Army officer and colonial administrator, known for his tenure as acting governor of the Cape Colony from 1798 to 1799 and 1801 to 1803. His military career included significant roles such as commanding the Scots brigade and serving during the American Revolutionary War. Dundas' governance saw events like the Graaff Reinet Revolt and the Third Frontier War. He was promoted to full general in 1812 and held notable positions such as Colonel of the 71st Regiment of Foot and Governor of Dumbarton Castle.

Francis Dundas was the second son of Robert Dundas of Arniston, the younger, and nephew of Henry Dundas. He married Eliza Cumming, daughter of Sir John Cumming, Bt., and had several children, including Francis, Robert, Caroline, Wedderburn, Henrietta, and Alexander Dundas.

Charlotte Dundas is renowned in the history of steam navigation as the world's second successful steamboat and the pioneering towing steamboat. Created by William Symington with the support of Thomas, Lord Dundas, it demonstrated the practicality of steam engines in marine transport. The Charlotte Dundas, featuring a powerful horizontal steam engine, successfully towed two 70-ton barges along the Forth and Clyde Canal in 1803, showcasing its capability against strong winds. Hugh Dundas hailed from a noble lineage, being the grandson of Scottish Liberal politician John Dundas and a great-great-grandson of Lawrence Dundas, 1st Earl of Zetland.
