Michael Norman Hazen is a prominent American professional baseball executive, currently serving as the executive vice president and general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks in Major League Baseball (MLB). A former minor league outfielder and Princeton University graduate, Hazen's notable career includes his tenure with the Boston Red Sox as GM and senior vice president. Under his leadership, the Red Sox clinched the 2016 American League East Division championship. In 2023, he extended his contract with the Diamondbacks, shortly after their National League pennant win. Moses Hazen (1733–1803) was a distinguished brigadier general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. Notable for his participation in the French and Indian War, Hazen served with Rogers' Rangers, engaging in significant battles like the Expulsion of the Acadians and the 1759 Battle of Quebec. Later, he played a crucial role in the American invasion of Quebec and led the 2nd Canadian Regiment, known as "Congress' Own," throughout the war. His military career was marked by involvement in major campaigns such as the 1777 Philadelphia campaign and the pivotal 1781 Battle of Yorktown. Hazen frequently petitioned Congress for compensation for war-related losses, supporting similar efforts by his regiment members.

Moses Hazen was born in Haverhill, Province of Massachusetts Bay, to a long-established New England Puritan family. Historical records have mistakenly suggested Jewish ancestry; however, genealogy traces the Hazen family name to England, originating as Hassen. His early years included service alongside family members in the local militia, eventually leading to his notable military career.

William Babcock Hazen was a distinguished United States Army officer known for his roles in the Indian Wars, Civil War, and as Chief Signal Officer. Notable for his defense at the Battle of Stones River, Hazen also played critical roles in the Union’s success at Fort McAllister during Sherman’s March to the Sea. His military career was marked by bravery and strategic prowess, earning him numerous promotions, including brigadier general and major general. Hazen’s service spanned key battles such as Shiloh, Chickamauga, and Chattanooga, contributing significantly to Union victories.

William Babcock Hazen was born in West Hartford, Vermont, and moved to Ohio at age three, spending his formative years in Hiram, where he befriended future President James A. Garfield.

Allen Hazen (1869–1930) was a pioneering American civil engineer renowned for his expertise in hydraulics, water purification, and sewage treatment. His significant contributions include the development of the Hazen-Williams equation, which revolutionized the understanding of water flow in pipelines. As President of the New England Water Works Association and Vice President of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Hazen's leadership in civil engineering was well recognized. He was instrumental in designing filtration systems, notably for Albany, New York, and consulting on the Panama Canal's Gatun Dam. Hazen's work laid the foundation for modern water management and purification practices, making him a key figure in environmental engineering.

Hazen was born on his family farm near the Connecticut River in Norwich, Vermont, in 1869. He pursued his education at the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts, graduating at the young age of 15, and furthered his studies at MIT.
