W. Page Keeton, a prominent American attorney, served as the dean of the University of Texas School of Law from 1949 to 1974, significantly elevating its status. As a Harvard Law School professor and a U.S. district judge in Massachusetts, Keeton significantly influenced legal education and practice. He co-authored the influential "Prosser and Keeton on Torts," and alongside Jeffrey O'Connell, advanced no-fault automobile insurance. Keeton served as associate dean at Harvard and was nominated by President Jimmy Carter to the federal judiciary, where he presided over notable cases including Lotus Dev. Corp. v. Borland Int'l, Inc.

Born in Clarksville, Texas, Keeton was the second youngest of five children of William Keeton, a general store owner, and Ernestine Teuton Keeton. His brother, W. Page Keeton, also became a notable lawyer and educator.
