Francis W. Pixley
Francis William Pixley FSA FCA (c. 1852 – 27 April 1933) was a distinguished English accountant, barrister, and author known for his significant contributions to the field of accountancy. A senior partner at Messrs. Jackson, Pixley and Co., Pixley served as president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and represented the UK at the first International Congress of Accountants in 1904. Beyond his profession, he was deeply involved in civic and charitable duties, including his roles as Deputy Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire, auditor to the Duchy of Lancaster, and treasurer of various associations. Pixley was also a Knight of Justice of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem in England and authored several influential works, including "The Accountant's Dictionary."
Francis Pixley was the son of Mr. T. W. Pixley from Freshwater, Isle of Wight. He was married to the daughter of Mr. J. P. Simpson and had two sons and three daughters. Tragically, his second son was killed in the First World War. His daughter Esme Caroline married Arthur Buxton, with whom she had four children, ensuring the continuation of the Pixley family legacy.
