Austin Sigg, a 17-year-old from Colorado, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the abduction and murder of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway in 2012. Elizabeth Ridgeway, née Husbands, was a notorious 17th-century English woman who became infamous for her crimes of poisoning. Convicted of murdering her husband, Thomas Ridgeway, in 1684, Elizabeth used white mercury or arsenic to poison her victims, which included her mother, a fellow servant, and a suitor named John King. Her case gained attention due to the cruel method of execution she faced—burning at the stake—and the eerie practice of cruentation used during her trial. Despite initial denials, she confessed to these murders before her execution, marking her as a historical figure of intrigue and infamy.

Rick Ridgeway (born August 12, 1949) is a distinguished American mountaineer, adventurer, environmentalist, writer, filmmaker, and businessman. Notably, he was part of the pioneering 1978 expedition that made him one of the first Americans to summit K2.
