[2] Death note, Member of Parliament, Terrorism Victim. He was one of five British Members of Parliament, who have been murdered since the World War II. He was son of Viscount Kemsley, the Welsh newspaper magnate who co-owned the "Daily Telegraph" and the "Sunday Times". In 1962 he became High Sherriff of Glamorgan, and was then elected Conservative MP for the Enfield Southgate constituency in 1964. For the next two decades, he served in various roles in Margaret Thatcher's government including as Vice-Chamberlain, Comptroller and Treasurer of the Household, and finally as Deputy Chief Whip in the House of Commons. For this service, he was knighted by Elizabeth II in 1983. He was uncle to Diana, Princess of Wales, through his first marriage. He was attending the Conservative Party conference in Brighton when a 20-pound gelignite bomb planted by the terrorist group, the IRA (Irish Republican Army), detonated in the Grand Hotel, killing him and injuring his wife, Lady Sarah. The bombing was intended to assassinate the Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, who escaped without injury. In total, five people were murdered, and thirty-four suffered injuries, some of them being paralyzed for life. A ceremony was held on the 25th Anniversary of the bombing, at which his widow, who was wife of Lord Donoughue of Ashton, unveiled a plaque in his honor at Sir Anthony Berry House in Enfield.
