Mr. Hyatt was born Feb. 14, 1924 in Buncombe County, where he lived all of his life. He was formerly employed by the NC Department of Transportation in the paving department. He was the son of the late Nat and Esta Price Hyatt .Surviving is his wife Bertha Pegg Hyatt; daughter Barbara Ann Rice and husband Howard of Asheville; sons Robert Lee Hyatt and wife Brenda of Weaverville and Vernie John Hyatt of Asheville; sister Flora Dean Hyatt of Weaverville; brother Johnny Hyatt of Arden; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday in the chapel of West Funeral Home , 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with the Revs. Roy McPeters and Joe Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Sheba Baptist Church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.Friday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. .
