    Bert ( or Barney as he liked to be called) enlisted into 1st AIF on Sept 10 1914. His two brothers Tom and Harry also served. Bert was in 2nd Battalion B Coy and later transferred to 6th Broad Gauge Railway Operational Coy to be closer to his brother Tom who was a train driver in the same company. He was discharged from the Army in March 1919.
    Bert was killed on 8th Nov 1962 when he was hit by a car in Sydney.
