Record Source: he had just left Malmesbury, South Africa, for a new position as a Veterinary Surgeon with the Board of Agriculture in Capetown when a cyclone damaged the hotel where he had been staying in Malmesbury. It buried a man who was occupying Charles' old bedroom, and destroyed many of Charles' belongings, which were waiting to be forwarded. A newpaper article said that Mr. GOUNDRY had been one of the first contingent of Yeomanry sent out from Newcastle during the war and had had many adventures - when Trooper BAINBRIDGE was shot he was close by his side.
