The Wellington Leader March 18, 1999
Edgar Lee Rogers of Amarillo died March 13, 1999 at Craig/Methodist Retirement Center, Amarillo. Mr. Rogers was born in Arkansas and moved to Amarillo from Wellington where he had lived since 1926. The family farmed in Collingsworth County.He joined the U. S. Navy and served aboard the USS Idaho in the Pacific Theater. Following his discharge he worked in the oil fields in Texas, Kansas and Saudi Arabia. He formed his own trucking business in 1955 and continued in that business for the remainder of his life. He married Ortez Stone In 1961 In Amarillo. He was a member of the Washington Avenue Christian Church. Survivors include three daughters, Sarah Phillip, Nancy McKee and Virginia Land, all of Amarillo; sixgrandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Louise Rogers of Wellington.
