Record Source: at Middlesbrough Borough Bench a young man was charged with "stealing two iron door porters, the property of Mr. John Pounder and Mr. Edward GOUNDRY, and also a woollen shirt, the property of Mr. W. DIXON . . . .police records showed that he had been three times convicted of theft, and once of burglary, and had been an inmate of a Reformatory for several years". He was sentenced to 2 months' imprisonment with hard labour.
