Record Source: with another Miner, both living at Wyken Hostel, he was committed for trial at the Quarter Sessions by the City Magistrates on a joint charge of breaking and entering the hostel store - they were allowed bail. Both men said that they were short of money, and GOUNDRY stated that he saw the store's window catch was off, and took the articles, which he intended to sell to pay his board.

He was aged 38, a Miner, living at Wyken Hostel and described as a Durham man. He was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, and to six months' imprisonment for breach of recognisances in respect of a previous offence, the sentences to run concurrently.
