KNAPP\'97On the 13th ult., at her residence in Lackawanna Twp., Electa W., wife of John Knapp, aged 60 years.\
The deceased was the daughter of Isaac Wilson, whose residence was in Pittston, where she was born, and until after she was married. After her marriage she removed with her husband to Lackawanna, where they have lived for over forty years, and raised a family of ten children--five sons and five daughters. Two of the sons have goone before her to the spirit world. One was killed\'a0while engaged at work on the L. & B. R. R., the other died in the army of his country during the war, and sleeps in an unknown grave.\cb1 \
\cb3 Although so fully occupied with the cares and duties incident to rearing a large family, Mrs. Knapp found time to improve her mind. She was fond of substantial reading, and she remembered what she read. In conversation she espressed herself with great ease, and often with elegance. Her manner was always dignified and sometimes apparently haughty. She was naturally proud, and sensitive to a fault, but all who knew her intimately esteemed her for her many noble traits of character. She was a kind neighbor and a true friend, as the writer of these lines has occasion to know. To her family she devoted her life; during a period of over forty years she was not absent from her home save, on one occasion, for over a week. She had been a member of the Presbyterian church of Pittston for twenty years, and her confidence in her Savior did not desert her as she went down into the dark valley and shadow of death. A very large company of relatives and friends followed her remains to the church yard.\cb1 \
\cb3 "Thou art gone to the grave, 'twere wrong to deplore thee.\cb1 \
\cb3 When God was thy ransom, thy guardian and guide, He gave thee and took thee, and soon will restore thee.\cb1 \
\cb3 Where death has no sting since the Savior had died."\cb1 \
