Record Source: Bishop Auckland Court heard that two men who went by lorry with a party of about a dozen to see the Amateur Cup semi-final between Leytonstone and Bishop Auckland, at a return fare of 6s. lost their way in London, and had to walk home. The lorry owner, Frederick W. GOUNDRY, (25), of 19 Bell Street, Bishop Auckland, was fined 10s. for using a motor vehicle without a public service vehicle licence; 10s. for having no road service licence; 10s. for having no public service vehicle driver's licence; and £5 for having no insurance. He was also ordered to pay 20s-6d. special costs, and his licence was suspended for 12 months. Two of the men said they got lost in London, and had to walk home to Bishop Auckland when the lorry left without them. GOUNDRY denied taking fares, and said he gave some friends a free trip.
