Record Source: in a speech at The National Society of Professional Musicians, held in Newcastle, the Chairman said "with respect to the application of electricity to organ building, he said they had all heard of Mr. Hope JONES's improvements. It happened that the very first who took steps to obtain a patent for electric organs was Mr. John GOUNDRY, of Newcastle. When Mr. BARKER, of Paris, took a second patent, he (the Chairman) happened to meet him at BRYSON's organ works, in London, and he told him that he had been very much interested in the patent taken out by Mr. GOUNDRY. Mr. GOUNDRY led the way, others followed him, and now they knew well what Mr. Hope JONES was doing at the present time"
