Event Type: Custom Event
Event Date: 19 JUN 1880
Record Source: "the grounds of Tudhoe Park were fairly attended in a downpour of rain to witness the carrying out of the programme of sport, which was not a heavy one, provided by Mr. ROBINSON, the proprietor. A ball match between T. DAVISON and J. GOUNDRY, of Tudhoe Colliery, and J. FORKIN, and T. GULLIVER, of Croxdale, 33 up, for £10, the latter receiving 5 start, occupied most of the afternoon. Although there was nothing particularly striking so far as scientific or effective playing was concerned, the men were very equally matched, and were several times equal, standing 30 each, and after some hard play, DAVISON and GOUNDRY won by two points".
