All six were occupied and produced a gross annual rental of £36. They were described as being in good repair.

Record Source: at an Auction Sale held at the "Wear Valley Hotel", Bishop Auckland, the following properties, belonging to Joseph BOOTH, Deceased, were sold :- Three Closes of Rich Old Meadow Land, totalling approximately four acres, at Etherley Moor. A Farm House, with two Gardens, Stables, Cow Byres, Piggery, Blacksmith's Shop, and Outbuildings at Etherley Moor, occupied by the same man who occupied the Closes. Seven Copyhold Cottages, with Conveniences at Etherley Moor, one consisting of one room, five of two rooms and one of three rooms. The Cottages produced a gross annual rental of £45 10s. The buildings were all occupied, and stated to be in excellent repair.

Record Source: probate was granted to his son Joseph William BOOTH of Byers Green, Farmer, and James STEPHENSON the younger, Assistant Overseer. Joseph left a four acre close of grassland in three allotments together with the farm, house, stable, Blacksmiths shop and seven cottages with their gardens and conveniences at Etherley Moor, together with six cottages in Front Street, opposite the Wesleyan Chapel at Byers Green to his Trustees to sell. The proceeds were to be used to pay off the mortgage on his property at Etherley Moor, and a debt of £100 he owed. The residue was to be shared equally between his daughter Mary ROBINSON, Ann BOOTH the widow of his son Thomas, Robert BOOTH the son of his eldest daughter Elizabeth, and any surviving children of his late son John, to be paid when they were 21. Two cottages adjoining the "Royal Oak Inn" in Front Street, Byers Green were left in trust for his grandsons Frank and Alfred BOOTH, sons of his son John BOOTH, deceased, on reaching 21 - the accumulated rents also to be paid to them then. Four cottages on Front Street, Byers Green, on the east side of Mr. DAVIDSON's shop, together with the adjoining building site, also a house and garden, currently used as two tenements on the east side of the "Marquis of Granby Hotel" in Front Street, Byers Green were left to his daughter Ann BOOTH. Four acres of grassland, in three allotments, together with four cottages and Greenfield House and its outbuildings were left to son Joseph William, subject to the mortgage debt of £600. He left his farm stock, crops, dairy utensils, horses, cattle, carts, harness, implements, poultry, hay, corn, straw, and any other farm produce to William Robert MORALLE “who has been in my service for many years“. All of his household furniture, plate, linen, china, glass, books, pictures, watches and other household effects equally to his daughter Ann BOOTH and son Joseph William BOOTH. Any residue, including money at the bank and securities for money, was to be shared equally between the aforementioned Mary ROBINSON, Ann BOOTH, Robert BOOTH and the children of John BOOTH, subject to the payment of any rents due on the farms carried on by him and his son Joseph William BOOTH. His gross Estate was valued at £364-10s-5d., net value of Personal Estate £27-10s.-6d.
