In the Will he was described as a Farmer, of Byers Green, and was bequeathed a close of grass land in 3 allotments containing about 4 acres together with 4 cottages as well as Greenfield House and its outbuildings which his father had occupied, subject to a mortgage debt of £600. All the household furniture, plate, linen, china, glass, books, pictures and other household effects as well as his watches were left Joseph and his sister Ann in equal shares, in the case of any dispute as to the selection of items he named James STEPHENSON, (the other joint Trustee of his Will) to decide.
