    Record Source: at Waratah Police Court, Lambton, Lewis LYNCH was charged with assaulting Joseph GOUNDRY, a Miner, of the Commonage, Lambton, in GORDON's bar. GOUNDRY gave evidence that he was drinking in the bar with a man named McINTOSH and ordered more drinks, meaning two. GORDON said there were four drinks to pay for but GOUNDRY said "I declined paying for the four; the defendant then came up to me and said, ' Are you not going to pay for mine ?' I said 'No'. He then struck me five or six times, and knocked my senses away." LYNCH was fined 1s. with 10s. 10d. costs. Joseph GOUNDRY was then found guilty of assaulting LYNCH at the same time and place and was fined 10s., without costs.
