Died at her home east of town, on Wednesday, March 9, 1887 after an illness of nearly two months.

Mrs. Lydia R. Hagler, ages 40 years, 9 months and 10 days.

Mrs. Hagler was born in Milton Iowa on May 27, 1846. She had been confined to her bed for nearly 2 months and was thought to be gradually recovering until Tuesday morning, she was taken worse and rapidly declined until death ended her sufferings. Mrs. Hagler had been a consistent member of the M.D. church for several years, was a loving wife, affectionate mother, a kind neighbor, and held in the highest esteen by all who knew her. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn their sad loss, the youngest of whom is an infant of nearly two months. The funeral services will be held today at the M.E. church and the remains laid away in the Milton cemetery. It is sad, sad indeed, to lose a mother, than whom no one on earth is dearer, but the meeting and greeting again beyond the river will be joyous in proportion.
