Record Source: Minnie Myrtle Wolfe was born in or near Mossy Creek, Tennessee, renamed Jefferson City in 1901. She never used the 'Myrtle',and it might have faded entirely if she hadn't been snitched out by her first grandchild. Her parents were Nancy Emmaline Brewer and Jeptha A. ("Jep") Wolfe. She had at least nine siblings, including Al (Alice), Kay (male), Ett (below), Mattie (Martha), Carol (male) and Troye. (I now believe "Al" may have been a cousin.) On the 1900 census she is listedas "Minie." The census-worker's handwriting was difficult to read, and Nancy's name is not transcribed correctly, but the photograph of the census record is easily decipherable as "Nancy Brewer", once you know what it says(confirmed by hergranddaughter). She married Charles Waters, With Whom She Had Two Children, Evelyn And Bud (Charles). After Charles Sr's death, she married Roy Pickens. They had no children together, but Roy brought three teenaged children by his first wife to the marriage.

Minnie loved her flowers and her garden club, and she was active in her church, which was Southern Baptist. Many don't remember that she was also an elected official of Knox County, Tennessee. She was elected to replace her husband, who died in office and had also been the Knox County Court Clerk. She was re-elected once, after which she decided two terms were enough. One story is that her husband's political opponent was so unpopular that his own party joined with her partyto persuade her to run, due to her opponent being such a scoundrel.

When her daughter and family outgrew their house, Minnie, now known as 'Mamaw', stepped up to the plate, and took them into her home, and in the course of events she inadvertantly became housekeeper, chief cook and bottle washer for five toeight people for the next few decades, eventually with some help as the budget would allow and the kids grew up.

Minnie outlived two husbands, several siblings and a son. She was survived by a daughter, three stepchildren, seven grandchildren and possibly some siblings.
