Record Source: Priscilla was Born in 1867 in Bethnal Green, Priscilla ("Annie" as she was known) was only about 11 when her father died leaving her to help bring up the rest of the young family. On the 1881 census she is shown as being a "Nursemaid/Domestic Servant". It would appear that she remained at home with her mother and in 1891 was continuing to work as a domestic servant until she married.
She met a sea captain, Herbert Thomas Gane, and the marriage took place in West Ham in the autumn of 1892. They had one child, Katherine, born in 1893 and it would appear that Herbert was often away at sea since she is shown on the 1901 census as being with Katherine at 23 Lampa Road, Deptford and he on board "Burma" moored on the Lincolnshire coast.
Herbert was sadly lost at sea and "Annie" moved to Bromley in Kent where she and her daughter set up a private day school.
