Record Source: [KING - from Bruce.ftw] [1] In George Gilbert King's letter of 24 Jul 1988, he ass e rts that"Reuben's father was William King, probably a gr an dson of the firstWilliam." If it's true that Reuben' s fat her was a grandson of thefirst William, then eithe r (a) Ed ward King had another son William, who was Reuben' s father , or (b) the first William King had a son(name un known) ot her than Edward King, who had a son William tha twas Reube n King's father, or (c) the first William Kin g had a son other than Edward, who had a son William who w as Reuben King' s father.(All this is easier to see fro m a tree of the fi rst William'sdescendants.) [2] He died from "paralysis"--i.e., a stroke--and is buri e d in BroadCove cemetery. [3] In a letter of 6 Feb 1989, George Gilbert King says th a t "Yourfather and Matt were double first cousins. Reub e n and Matt's motherAlfreda were brother and sister." "M at t" refers to Matthew GilbertKing. (4) In a telephone call of 8 Aug 1999, GGK repeated wha t h e has saidbefore: that he _believes_ that Reuben Kin g (ab out 1858 - 1930) wasWilliam Josiah (Billy Josiah) Ki ng's u ncle. But we don't know forsure who Reuben's paren ts were , much less his siblings... (5) In a telephone call of 3 Jun 1999, GGK said that "Reub e n'ssister married A Francis." (Later: see William Fran ci s & Mary JaneKing (Perry's Cove), parents of Wilson Fra nci s.) (6) GGK has repeatedly told me a story that, during a typh o idepidemic (in the 1870s, approximately), a number of it em s wereburied under Reuben's house, including a Bible, t h e Book of CommonPrayer, and some account books that reco rd ed transactions between aplanter and some fishermen. H e t hinks the box containing theserecords may still be und er t he house, though perhaps in poorcondition. (7) In a telephone call of 29 Aug 1999, GGK said that a Th o mas King("Tom Swamp") who had a daughter Elsie King wh o ma rried a Silas Kingwas a brother of Reuben King.
