Record Source: Farmer - Robert carried out farming pursuits in the Tickera / Port Broughton region. He had several properties and employed managers to run them. His wife Eliza Rebecca lived the life of a lady, having staff to attend to the chores and the care of her children. She loved riding and would ride most days. After his wifes death, he relied on his housekeeper to keep the home running. Alice Ethelwyn White nee Bennier, widowed with four sons, became Robert's housekeeper and then his second wife. Robert sold his farms and they moved to Mosley Street, Glenelg where there were more opportunities for the children. He set his stepsons up in their individual pursuits. Robert evenually left Alice and purchased a block at William Street, Plympton and his son-in-law Angus Sleader helped him to build a small home which was never quite finished.
