    VENABLE, RUTH COVINGTON
    A resident of Greensburg, she died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at St. Helena Parish Hospital in Greensburg. She was 87 and a native of Chipola. Visitation at Darlington United Methodist Church, Chipola, 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Larry Robertson. Interment in Greensburg Cemetery, Greensburg. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband, Roger M. Venable; parents, George P. Covington Sr. and Leda Rebecca Strickland Covington; five sisters, Rita Bales, Velma Covington, Audrey Blades, Lanell Heap and Arminta Courtney; and three brothers, Carl Covington, Thurston Covington and G.P. "Red" Covington. She was a member of St. Helena Historical Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Darlington United Methodist Church. She was a host for multiple sclerosis Bike-a-Thon. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, in charge of arrangements.
