Record Source: Bishop Auckland Court, "Elizabeth (sic - probably Tabitha) GOUNDRY, a young girl, charged her brother Jacob with assaulting her at Byers Green. The father, supported by defendant and a younger brother, complained indignantly to the Bench that his wife, with whom he was not living, was both dissipated and unfaithful. She had been seen to break the house windows, to put the complainant through the broken glass, and then make off with bedding, provisions, and anything the girl could lay hands on. P.C. SHARP said Mrs GOUNDRY was a disgraceful character, and the summons was now dismissed, Mrs GOUNDRY having been put out of court for disrespect to the Bench".
