"Mr. WILKINSON (one of the two magistrates) thought complainant should have laid the affair before the deputy, as it seemed a very frivolous offence. The costs were very heavy, the boy having been brought from near Beamish. The boy was ordered to pay 2s. to the policeman's expenses, and Mr. WILKINSON forgave the lad the rest of the money".
