NEWTON - Warner G. "Bill" Williams, 79, died Aug. 13, 2005, at Newton Medical Center.
He was born May 9, 1926, at Shubuta, Miss., the son of James Edward and Ursula Bodie Williams. He attended high school at Beat Four High School, Waynesboro, Miss. A longtime resident of Newton, he worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1988, and did pick-up and deliveries for Sports and Imports, Newton.
He was a charter member of the Meridian Bible Church, serving as a Deacon. He served in the U.S. Navy, and was stationed at Newton Air Station.
On Nov. 26, 1945, he married Dorothy Williams, At Newton. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Cheryl Furgason, Gentry, Ark., Sharon Starr, Claremore, Okla., and Kristi Rediske, Siloam Springs, Ark.; two brothers, Ford, Waynesboro, Miss., and Roy, Richland, Miss.; two sisters, Gemme Sue Walters, Laurel, Miss., and Hattiebelle Bodie, Leakesville, Miss.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers, John, Ward, Everett, Thadis, Velpo, Curtis, Walter Ray, James Edward and E.W.; and a sister, Emma Katherine Williams.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Meridian Baptist Church, Newton, with Pastor Jerroll Martens presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Meridian Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.
