    Record Source: at the Brewster Sessions for the Gilling East Division William GOUNDRY of Middleton Tyas was amongst several applicants who "for some time past they had held the certificate but not the excise licence, and so did not sell. The object of keeping on the certificate was because they were looking out for tenants, and with having certificates the property would be more valuable. . . . .It was decided to grant the certificates this year, and next year the applicants would have to tell the justices what they intended doing with the houses".
