Evert Collier (26 January 1642 – few days before 8 September 1708) was a renowned Dutch Golden Age still-life painter celebrated for his vanitas and trompe-l'œil paintings. He was initially baptized Evert Calier in Breda, North Brabant, and later trained in Haarlem, where he was influenced by Vincent Laurensz van der Vinne. Collier's artistic journey led him to Leiden, Amsterdam, and eventually to London, where he spent the final years of his life. Evert Karlsson Horn af Kanckas (11 June 1585 – 30 July 1615) was a renowned Finnish field marshal and governor of Narva. Born at Haapsalu Castle in the Swedish province of Estonia, he was the son of Field Marshal Carl Horn and Agneta von Dellwig, and the younger brother of Field Marshal Gustav Horn, Count of Pori (1592–1657). In 1608, Horn began his service with Jakob De la Gardie (1583–1652), Chief Commander in Finland, and later became the Governor of Narva in 1613 and Field Marshal in 1614. Tragically, during the Ingrian War, he met his untimely demise by a bullet during the early days of the Swedish siege of Pskov in 1615. In 1613, he married Margareta Fincke, and their son, Gustav Evertsson Horn af Marienborg (1614–1666), went on to become a member of the Privy Council of Sweden and Governor General of Finland. Evert Karlsson Horn af Kanckas left a lasting legacy in Finnish history and the military.
