Fin Donnelly, born on May 27, 1966, is a Canadian politician and member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of British Columbia for the Coquitlam-Burke Mountain district since 2020. He is affiliated with the British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP) caucus. Donnelly's political career began with his service as a federal NDP caucus member of Parliament (MP) representing New Westminster—Coquitlam from 2009 to 2015, and Port Moody—Coquitlam from 2015 to 2019. Before his federal MP tenure, he served as a Coquitlam city councillor from 2002 to 2009. Notably, Donnelly was previously a marathon swimmer, completing various challenging swims, including the length of the Fraser River twice and across the Strait of Georgia, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and several lakes. His swims were aimed at raising awareness and funds for local environmental causes.Donnelly holds a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and environmental studies from the University of Victoria. His entry into municipal politics was marked by his successful election to the Coquitlam City Council in 2002, where his campaign focused on sustainable development.
