Puw is credited with preserving the strict meter Welsh bardic poetry of St Richard Gwyn and composing a Welsh poem expressing loyalty to King Charles I and devotion to the Roman Catholic Church during the English Civil War. His work reflects a mystical allusion to the Real Presence and the return of the Tridentine Mass.
