Hermes Gamonal

Hermes Gamonal, born on May 31, 1977, is a former professional tennis player from Chile. He made his Davis Cup debut for Chile in 1998 and participated in nine ties during his career. Gamonal achieved victories in three out of eight singles rubbers and four out of five doubles matches. Notably, he competed in the 2003 French Open but was eliminated in the first round by Christophe Rochus. His tennis career saw him secure one Challenger title in singles and one in doubles. Unfortunately, due to persistent injuries, Gamonal made the decision to retire from professional tennis in late 2006.

Hermes L. Ames

Hermes Luther Ames (October 28, 1865 – August 23, 1920) was an American farmer and politician from New York. Born in Carroll, Chautauqua County, New York, he was the son of Ezra Wales Ames and Loretta M. (Woodward) Ames. Ames engaged in agricultural pursuits and also taught school in Falconer. In 1894, he married Minta E. Brunson, with whom he had two children. A member of the Republican party, Ames was elected President of the Village of Falconer in 1916 and served as a member of the New York State Assembly for Chautauqua Co., 1st D. from 1918 to 1920.Tragically, Ames passed away on August 23, 1920, following a fall while repairing a damaged silo on his farm near Falconer. He broke his right foot, which ultimately led to his untimely death. He was laid to rest at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Falconer.
