Baron Ignace von Ephrussi (1829–1899) was a Russian-born Austrian banker and diplomat, known for his leadership at Ephrussi & Co. in Vienna, Austria. Born in 1829 in Berdychiv, Russian Empire, he was the son of Charles Joachim Ephrussi and Belle Levensohn. After his father's remarriage to Henriette Halperson, he gained two half-brothers, Michel and Maurice Ephrussi, and two half-sisters, Therese and Marie. Ephrussi became the head of Ephrussi & Co., the family bank in Vienna, and was ennobled by Emperor Franz Joseph I, holding the title of Baron. He also served as Honorary Consul to the King of Sweden and Norway and was a Knight of the Order of St. Olav. Ephrussi married Emily Porges and together they had two sons and a daughter. He passed away in 1899 in Vienna, Austria. His great-great-grandson, Edmund de Waal, is a renowned British ceramicist and author, known for his memoir "The Hare with the Amber Eyes" which delves into his family history, including Ignace's legacy.
