Janette Hales Beckham, also known as Janette C. Hales Beckham, was the tenth general president of the Young Women organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1992 to 1997. She was born in Springville, Utah, and raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. After graduating from Brigham Young University, she married Robert H. Hales and raised five children. Tragically, Robert Hales passed away in 1988, following which Beckham was appointed to the Utah House of Representatives by Governor Norman H. Bangerter. Beckham served in the 48th Utah State Legislature before deciding not to seek re-election in 1990. She then became a counselor in the general presidency of the LDS Young Women organization and eventually succeeded as the general president. Throughout her tenure, Beckham was supported by four counselors, and upon her release, she married Raymond E. Beckham. Beckham has also been involved in various educational and organizational roles, including serving on the board of directors of Deseret Book Company and the Utah Valley University Board of Trustees.
