Kina Konova (1872-1952) was a Bulgarian educator, translator, publicist, suffragist, and women's rights activist. She co-founded and led the first local women's socialist organization in Bulgaria, the Society of Friends Women's Branch, in 1889. Additionally, she was a founder of the local women's society Nadezhda (Hope) in 1897. Konova actively participated in the debate about women's education and the status of female teachers. In 1901, she co-founded the Bulgarian Women's Union, an umbrella organization of 27 local women's organizations, with the aim of increasing access for women to education and entry of women into universities. The union arranged national congresses and utilized the newspaper Zhenski glas (Women's Voice) to promote and encourage women's political development and increase participation in public affairs. Kina Konova's contributions were instrumental in advancing women's rights and education in Bulgaria during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
