Lauren "Laddie" Gale (April 22, 1917 – July 29, 1996) was a renowned American collegiate and professional basketball player, hailing from Oakridge, Oregon. Standing at an impressive 6'4", Gale made a significant impact as a forward for the University of Oregon's basketball team, known as "The Tall Firs," under the guidance of head coach Howard Hobson. His remarkable skills and leadership led the Ducks to clinch the national championship in the first-ever Division I men's basketball tournament in 1939.Following his collegiate success, Gale ventured into professional basketball, playing for the Detroit Eagles of the National Basketball League.
