Lorcan Robbins, also known as Laurence and/or Robins, was an Irish Sinn Féin activist and politician born on May 16, 1884. He hailed from a farming family in County Westmeath and played a significant role in the establishment of the separatist Irish Republic in 1919. Robbins served in the Dáil government's Department of Finance and was nominated as a Sinn Féin candidate in the Longford–Westmeath constituency during the 1921 general election. Despite initial suggestions for him to continue his work in the Department of Finance if elected, he and other Sinn Féin candidates were returned unopposed as TDs to the Second Dáil. Notably, he voted in favor of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in January 1922 and was appointed Assistant Minister for Local Government in the post-Treaty Dáil government. Despite losing his Dáil seat in the 1922 general election, Robbins continued to serve as an Assistant Minister until the Dáil government was merged with the Provisional Government in September. Lorcan Robbins passed away on January 9, 1939, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to Irish politics and activism.
