Anderson was the third host of the game show "Family Feud" from 1999 to 2002. He pursued his higher education at Abilene Christian College, now Abilene Christian University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history. Welch's political career began with his election to the Houston City Council, followed by his successful mayoral campaign in 1963. During his tenure, Houston experienced significant growth and development, marked by the opening of the Astrodome, Houston Intercontinental Airport, and other major projects. However, his time in office was not without controversy, including the 1967 police siege at Texas Southern University and allegations of questionable campaign financing. After leaving office, Welch remained active in various organizations and eventually passed away from lung cancer at the age of 89. His legacy lives on through the Louie Welch Middle School in Southwest Houston, named in his honor.
