Her dedication led her to enroll in a Curtiss-Wright mechanics course and the M.I.T. Guggenheim School of Aeronautics.Throughout her career, Talley achieved numerous milestones, including becoming a saleswoman at the Curtiss-Wright Corporation, earning a commercial pilot’s license, and joining the 99s (International Association of Women Pilots). She also played a pivotal role as a founding member of the Betsy Ross Air Corps, a private female auxiliary for the Army Air Corps. Talley's contributions extended to her military service, as she became the first person to join the Anchorage, Alaska Civil Air Patrol and later achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.Talley's legacy lives on through her scrapbook, housed in the National Air and Space Museum Archives, and a collection of papers gifted to the University of Alaska Anchorage/Alaska Pacific University Consortium Library Archives.
