Michigan relics

The Michigan Relics, also known as the Scotford Frauds or Soper Frauds, are a collection of alleged ancient artifacts that were purportedly discovered in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The artifacts were claimed to be evidence of an ancient Near Eastern culture residing in what is now Michigan prior to the Columbian contact with the New World. This initial find sparked great interest, leading to further discoveries in the area around Wyman in Montcalm County, Michigan. Scotford, along with Daniel E. Soper, former Michigan Secretary of State, presented thousands of objects supposedly found across Michigan, including coins, pipes, boxes, figurines, and cuneiform tablets depicting biblical scenes.Despite initial belief in their authenticity, the relics were eventually debunked by scholars. Various reasons were cited, including the random arrangement of hieroglyphs, inaccuracies in the depiction of animals, and the objects' disintegration in water. Scholars and historians consistently concluded that the objects were indeed forgeries.Although most scholars and academics have determined
