Montague Horatio Mostyn Turtle Pigott (9 August 1865 – 26 August 1927) was an English barrister and writer known for his humorous plays, poems, and editorship of The Isis. Pigott, born in London, excelled in his education at Westminster School and University College, Oxford, before being called to the Bar at the Middle Temple in 1890. He made a mark in literary circles, founding and editing The Isis in 1892 as a lighthearted commentary on university life. Pigott was active in various clubs and was renowned for his after-dinner speeches. His literary works encompassed verse, ditties, and plays, including the piece "the hundred best books." Pigott's pseudonyms, "Medium Tem Plum" and "Testudo," added to his popularity. Sadly, he passed away from chest trouble at a Denham House Nursing Home in Ramsgate. Pigott's legacy lives on through his contributions to English literature and humor.
