Nev Schulman is an American TV host and producer, best known for the 2010 documentary film Catfish and the follow-up TV series Catfish: The TV Show on MTV, of which he is the host and executive producer. Born in New York City to a Jewish family, Schulman developed an interest in photography after studying dance for five years. He attended Sarah Lawrence College, where he studied photography and dance before being expelled for an altercation. At 19, he and his brother Ariel started a film and photography production company. Schulman is also a founding member of the Young Leadership Committee for the youth organization, Leave Out Violence. In addition to his TV work, Schulman has written a book titled In Real Life: Love, Lies & Identity in the Digital Age. He also appeared in the 2018 film Nobody's Fool playing himself. Schulman participated in the 29th season of Dancing with the Stars, finishing as the runner-up. In his personal life, Schulman is married to Laura Perlongo, with whom he has three children.

His untimely passing in 1994 left a void in the sports broadcasting world, but his legacy continues to inspire and resonate with fans and colleagues alike.
